Jumpcut was founded December the 6th, 1998. It was originally conceived as a business-to-business service where companies could upload their presentations. Later it changed to a consumer application to share video and photo shows. The service was acquired by Yahoo! in October 2nd, 2006. Video and photo files can be uploaded directly from PC, camera, Flickr account or e-mail. This makes it possible to upload files directly from a mobile device with internet connectivity. It is possible to easily grab movie parts made by other users to use in your own productions. Online editing works easy and fast. After the movie is finished it can be published instantly on the site. You can choose to make content public or private. Since December 2008 users can no longer upload new movies to Jumpcut. Existing movies are still available.
Jumpcut is not only a video hosting application like YouTube but is also an online editor. It is also allowed to use movie parts of other users to mix in your own content. Uploading is possible from mobile devices by using email.
The application is intuitive to use and has a modern, clean interface.
Jumpcut is owned by Yahoo! and you need a Yahoo! ID to sign in. If you already have this account for Yahoo Mail or Flickr you can use it to register.
Jumpcut is free to use. Money is made with b2b products: Jumpcut Contests and Jumpcut Brandspace.
Recommended to everyone who needs a quick online editing tool to create short movies.
